Peranakans are the descendants of Chinese immigrants who came to the Malay archipelago between the 15th - 17th century. Peranakans retained most of their religion (such as ancestor worship), but practiced the Malay culture and language. A typical Peranakan house's interior is tiled in exquisitely patterned tiles. The family motto "燕翼貽謀” - "hands down a good plan for the next generation", is painted onto a plaque fixed above the front door.

The magnificent Cheong Fatt Tze mansion was built in the 1880s. Cheong was a merchant trader who left China as a penniless youth and found his fortune in Malaysia. His abode was built on a 'dragon's throne' chosen for its excellent feng shui, with a mountain (Penang Hill) behind it and water (the Straits of Malacca) in front. The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion combines Eastern and Western designs, with louvred windows and Art Nouveau stained glass.

This pop up piece comes with ready made die cut and display base included. No cutting is required. Perfect for anyone who has a knack for arts and crafts and appreciation for nostalgia.
